Why do I see a safety number change alert?
You will see this alert if you message a contact after Signal was installed again and registered with their phone number. This commonly happens if your contact reinstalled Signal.
Why do I have to tap to verify?
You have to tap to verify because you have enabled the setting to require the approval this change. You can disable the extra step of verifying on your iPhone by going to Settings > Privacy > disable the "Require Approval on Change." You will need to accept the new safety number in your conversation to continue messaging or calling.
What can I do when I tap to verify?
After you tap to verify, you can choose to
- Show new safety number to see the new number and have the option to compare or scan.
- Accept the safety number to continue messaging and have no further action.
- Cancel to dismiss the alert, but still have these options in the future.
